Dental Implant Structure
CROWN
The crown is the prosthetic tooth that is mounted on top of the implant. The porcelain crown is placed in the final step of the dental implant procedure and will be seen along with the rest of your teeth. If properly cared for, the crown and implant can last a lifetime! Dr. Fleming will make sure to personalize each crown in order to make them blend in seamlessly with the rest of your smile. Friends and family won’t even realize it’s a prosthetic tooth!
ABUTMENT
The abutment is the part of the implant that is placed at the same time as the restoration. Made to secure the restoration to the implant post, the abutment ensures the crown restoration sits securely and stays in place during use.
SCREW
The screw is the foundation and most important part of the dental implant procedure. The screw, also known as the fixture, is a titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone by Dr. Fleming. During this outpatient procedure, we’ll create a small entry point in the jawbone and the implant post is inserted. Once the screw has been placed, it acts as the root of your natural tooth and sets the foundation for the implant placement.
